Today we attended the York Gardens Olympics Street Party. It was absolutely fantastic. The organisation was outstanding. They had applied to the council to close the road. There was a bouncy castle, decorate a cup cake, make an Olympic torch, Olympic colouring activities, a York Gardens quiz and heaps more. Plus everyone took food to share with their neighbours.
It was so lovely to meet and chat with Holly and Adam's neighbours. So many people from the street came. One of the families on the street are Morris Dancers. Their group came along and entertained us and many people had a go at a variety of dances. Then there were races for the children.
We had such a fun time. Thank you York Gardens :-)
Today we are having an easy at home morning. The children have got on so well together. I know Finn is going to miss them. This afternoon Holly is going to take us around to Steph & Simon's. A huge thank you to Holly & Adam for having us to stay this week. We've had a home away from home which has been simply amazing.
Hi Deborah & Finn,
ReplyDeleteThe street party sounds great. Good fun and good company.
We are watching the womens marathon at the moment, and the London scenery along the course is great, with the Monument, London Eye, and so forth, looks good even on a rainy London morning.
Have you got along to any of the "free" events like triathlons and marathons, with courses in "open" parks and roads?
We have also been enjoying watching the sailing down at Weymouth. The TV coverage (on free to air) is absolutely excellent.
And so nice for you to have good friends in London who make you so welcome and look after you so well.
Love to you both.
Morning Deborah and Finn , Well it is morning here when I open your Blog. The games give me the impression that the reserved Londoners/English are no longer, all sounding as though they want to get in behind their athletes and make it a celebration of hosting the many nations. What a fabulous time to be in UK. The buzz and all the events happening. Sounds like a grande family picnic.
ReplyDeleteIts been really good that you have been part of Holly's family.
Take care and keep enjoying the moment.
Love Mum
Hi Deb & Finn,
ReplyDeleteHow fantastic to be at a street party, I've seen them in the movies, but have never heard of anyone I know going to one before now. Must be such a nice feel of community :-) sounds like so much fun with the kids really being catered for.
I'm pleased that today is just a quiet day, albeit a reunion day... Tuesday is going to be such a big day with two events to go to!
Lots of love xoxo
Hi Deb and Finn
ReplyDeleteI have just returned from Auckland staying with Jo, Greg and the twins. The twins have been at school now for three weeks. I have just loved reading through all the blog entries you have added since I last logged in before going to Auckland. What an amazing time you are having. You will have wonderful stories to relate to school friends Finn. How lovely for you Deb to be able to catch up with friends you knew and worked with all those years ago. Lots of love.
Hi Deb & Finn,
ReplyDeleteHey, wow! There was a significant eruption on Mt Tongariro last night. We didn't know till this morning.
Love,
Len & Judy
