Yesterday morning we went for a wander through a woodland forest within Bushy Park which is right next to Hampton Court Palace. Bushy Park is huge and the woodland area is just a small part of it. It was lovely to stroll through the trees. We even saw a couple of squirrels and one rabbit. There was an awesome log lying near a stream that looked just like a crocodile complete with open jaws.
In the afternoon we caught up with Maureen Mudie, who was the Head Teacher (Principal) at Dundonald School when both Holly and I worked there. Her good friend Kiki popped by too. Maureen came in her Olympic volunteers uniform especially for us and told us interesting stories about what she has been doing during the Olympics. It was just fabulous to catch up with Maureen. She has done so much travelling around the world since she retired. She really is inspirational. I'm thrilled that she is thinking of visiting New Zealand again.
We have been watching lots of the Olympics on the tv in the evenings and in snatches during the day. We have fabulous coverage here and I hope that you do at home too. Loved seeing NZ win gold in the rowing and bronze in the cycling. We still cheer even though it's on the tv.
Goodnight from a very tired Deb and Finn
Hi Deb & Finn,
ReplyDeleteReally great to hear of your ongoing adventures and experiences, thanks.
Your walk in the woodland forest sounded nice, nature in the city. And Legoland would have been good fun and a jump-start to one's imagination of possible builds.
We have been enjoying the Olympics coverage on TV here. A couple of amazing performances by NZ athletes in the rowing. The sailing has been excellent to watch, with good wind prevailing. As always, performances by USA and Russia in gymnastics, floor, beam, parallel bars and rings have been excellent to watch.
Love to you both,
Dad & Judy
Hi Finn and Deborah
ReplyDeleteWhat an amazing place Legoland must be. The photos make me think that legoland is like a fun park with all the different sections and activities to see and do. The day must have flown by.
Finn it is very tempting to spend your money on cool things like that and a lot of the lego stuff will never be seen or sold in NZ. Good on you buying yourself some lego. Remember what you buy you need to have space in your bag to carry home. Has it been warm enough for icecreams in London?
Nice to spend time strolling through the woodland.I see rabbits in the hospital grounds but no squirrels they are cute.
If Maureen comes to NZ again she is welcome to stay with me on her journey.
Since it was Friday night I watched the rowing and saw the final of the cycling race must have dosed while NZ won the bronze.
Just fantastic all that you are doing and sharing with us all.
Lots of love Mum
I'm assuming the submarine wasn't made of lego!

Hi Deb & Finn!
ReplyDeleteLegoland must have just been amazing... I know my whole family would love to go there too :-) though it is probably just as well we haven't I think I would find it harder in the shop than Finn, I love buying Duplo, and there are still so many neat sets that I would love to get!
Hey Finn, you have your own legoland drivers licence, how cool is that! What did you have to do to earn it?
The different attractions to see and activities to do sound amazing... A submarine even! Did you manage to see most of the park in just the one day?
Last night was yet another late night in a string on many staying up to watch the Olympics, the rowing is a must see, so much excitement, and last night added controversy. (as I type away now the men's weight lifting is on...) Then we also watched another piece of history last night, the Cheifs won the final match of the super 15 against the sharks, the first time the Cheifs have achieved such a feat... There would have been a lot of people partying late last night :-)
Best I drag myself away, it is a beautiful warm winters day today and I have sanding and painting to get on with...
Lots of love xoxo
