Hockey

We had a great day at the hockey today.  It was super super hot and sunny.  We even got a little sunburnt!  Whoops!  We watched the semi final match between the Australian's and German's. It's great to see that even top level hockey players argue with the ref!  Using the video ref a German goal was removed from the scoreboard! Olympic Park was once again absolutely packed and it took us 50 mins to walk from the Riverbank Arena to Stratford Train Station just due to the shear number of spectators in Olympic Park.  If you happen to be watching we should be easy to spot as we were directly opposite the cameras, right at the top of the stands under the black umbrella.
BTW Germany won 4-2

    Hi Finn & Deborah,
    Thanks for more nice photos.
The Olympic mascots look a bit like the Teletubbies, don't they. Wrong colours, but.

Such huge crowds would be a new experience for you Finn? The press of excited humanity! Standing and shuffling room only. The planet is full!

We are envious of all the great fun you are having, in marvelous London.
    Love,
    Len & Judy

    1. Just done a search. Approximately 180000 spectators are visiting Olympic Park each day! That's such a huge number!

What glorious weather you had to watch the hockey. The stadium must have alive with atmosphere. So Australia now has a chance for Bronze. Sorry did not see any hockey. Just as well you didn't have to get to the otherside of London to watch another event. The crowds to manourve through must be a challenge in it self - reaching home must be like winning gold somedays, when you do the trip in good time.
The time is flying with all the excitment of the games.
    Lots of love mum

    1. Hi Mum,
I've literally just posted this - and already you've commented! How cool is that?
We are really having the most amazing time.

      Love Deborah

  3. Hi Deb & Finn,
When watching the hockey I have been in awe of the athletes fitness, it is so fast paced and the players very quickly reposition themselves after a play. The speed that they move makes the playing field seem small. While at the same time the players stay in for reasonably long periods before being subbed (persay in comparison to basketball).
I must admit I am not a fan of having to negotiate large crowds and am quite happy to take my time leaving a venue so I miss the worst of the congestion. I hope it hasn't been too frustrating for you and that you have been able to choose your own direction through the masses.
The games have been such a whirlwind of excitement, so much happening at once... It seems that they are coming to a close all too soon.
    Lots of love xoxo

    1. Hi Finn!
I love the pictures where you are with the mascots! I think they are so much fun, especially dressed in their different outfits around the place. Something we were watching the other night showed us that some of them had a camera lense in the centre of their eye... It would be really neat to see some shots of people's reactions around them! xxx

  4. Hi Deborah & Finn,
Thanks for the postcard from Leicester Square. We received it today.
Cold night here, foggy morning, and now looks like a nice day to follow. But certainly no temperatures like your northern hemisphere's 31 degrees.
    Love,
    Len & Judy
