We are now back in Balham where we lived the whole time we were in London. Balham looks nearly the same except that the high street is swisher! Today we've had our Balham Babes reunion and we have had such an awesome time that 2 of the boys are staying here tonight too, after much begging! Finn, Ben, Ben and William are all still much the same as you can see from the photos below. It has been grand to catch up as Mum's and kids. It's such a delight to meet all the younger siblings too! There were 11 children around the table for lunch!
We went to the common on bikes and scooters and had children zooming in every direction, followed by a huge game of tag on the playground. We've had a real fun day.
Steph, Louise, Liz and I just talked and talked and talked. Unfortunately Anne couldn't make it with her three as they are poorly. We used to meet at least twice a week, once for coffee and once for our own music group, and again for any reason we could think of.
Yay for the Balham Babes

Sounds like the perfect reunion :-) it would be really neat to catch up with the other mums and bubs and talk about the yeas gone by. Looking at the pictures the kids look like the best of mates, with the sleep over tonight I hope they get some sleep!
ReplyDeleteXoxo
What a momentous occasion. It is really neat that the boys enjoyed each others company soooo much that they all wanted to stay together.Finn it must be nice to have boys your own age to play with. To be able to scoot etc and burn off some of that energy you have. Great being outdoors having fun.
ReplyDeleteIt must have been lovelyfor the mums all catching up with each other. Maybe there will be time to catch up with Anne and her children before you come home.
Photos indicate that you can only get 4 or 5 boys on the couch now, I remember the photo of all the babies lined up.
Take care. Enjoy the diving and football.
Love you both Mum
Hi Deb & Finn,
ReplyDeleteWhat a great catch-up and renewal! A strong emotional anchor to the place, for sure. And great fun for Finn too.
We continue to enjoy the Olympics coverage on the TV, with sailing, kayaking (the fast & the furious)and the likes. And Roger Federer lost, none of the old sharp game and fight!
Love to you both,
Len & Judy
Hope you're enjoying being back in Balham, it's changed a bit hasn't it ... if you think back to the slightly dingy high street when we first arrived :-)
ReplyDeleteBoys played the second team on Saturday, and played really well. Angus scored a goal after tenaciously winning the ball back in their box and banging it in. We lost 4-1 but two of their goals were from the boys being a bit asleep at kick offs :-) In general play they really held their own. Adam was Player of the Day ... he made a lot of crucial saves in goal and then scored in the next game as well. Chris was most improved ... but it was a hard choice, all the boys played really really hard and gave it 100%.
We old men lost our game 7-4 to the top team in the league. I've got a minor injury to my hamstring and might be out for the rest of the season (only a couple of games left ...), certainly out for this Saturday.
Did you see the Mars lander Curiosity has landed? Did you know it is *way* bigger than the previous landers. Sojourner weighed 11.5kg and Curiosity weighs 899kg!! That's about 80% of the weight of a small car (my mini weighs 1145kg). So its pretty big.
Love,
Dad.
Hi Deb & Finn,
ReplyDeleteHey, wow! There was a significant eruption on Mt Tongariro last night. We didn't know till this morning.
(Yes, I posted this on the wrong day, so here it is a second time, on the right day. Update: It was a hydro-thermal driven eruption, and the alert level has now been downgraded. All a bit ash messy, but.)
Love,
Len & Judy
