After an incredibly long journey are have finally arrived in Rome. Our journey time was around 40 hours, including flying time and waiting times. Finn was a trouper and handled the long haul flight really well. Me - less well. Still this is a dream trip and worth it!
Rome is incredibly hot and everyone here speaks Italian. The Italian way is very evident. Finn and I went out for a stroll while we were waiting for check in time at the hotel. It's going to take a couple of days to find our bearings.
We've booked a walking tour for tomorrow night, and the hop on hop off bus for tomorrow.
Plus we've bought a Rome pass for getting into museums and using the metro. Our Pompeii tour is on Saturday.
We have internet access in our hotel, so that makes it really easy for us to make posts this week.
Caio,
Deb & Finn
Pleased you have made it! 40 hrs is a long time to travel with broken sleep, transfers and connections. Hope you both manage to adjust to the new time zone quickly. The big news in NZ today is that there was a 7.0 magnitude earthquake last night at 10.36... Very deep 230 km, centered near Opunake. Was widely felt. No major damage that I am aware of.
ReplyDeleteSounds like you will have a fabulous time exploring Rome... We look forward to the first glimpses of your adventures xxx
That was some journey! I had my day wrong, sorry!
ReplyDeleteJust a tip for Rome - we found the deli food was cheap and first class. You missed a real shake - in the apt is was very frightening, some of the foreigners took off!!

ReplyDeleteWhen in Rome, do as the Romans do ... which means ... eat a lot of Gelato, its what the empire was built on.
