La Tour Eiffel
This morning we caught the Metro around to La Tour Eiffel. On the way we had an accordion player for part of the journey. Very cool. At times the metro was crowded, other times we got seats - such as easy way to get around.
We climbed up the Sud leg of La Tour Eiffel. To get to the 2nd floor it was 704 steps. We also caught the lift right to the very top (324m). The view was spectacular. It started to rain while we were at the very t but luckily Finn had borrowed an umbrella from the hotel, so we were good as gold!
We even had some lunch while we were up there at one of the cafe on the second floor. Super cool! I think it was a favourite for both of us.
We then caught the metro to the other side of the city to see Sacre-Coeur. We caught the funiculaire up to Sacre-Coeur just for fun. We could easily have walked up the steps! We looked back across the city towards the Eiffel Tower.
This would have to be my favourite day in Paris. Tomorrow we will catch the RER around to Euro Disney and begin the stuff Finn has been hanging out for.
It's so great to read your comments and to know that you are following us on our blog. It makes Home seem closer.
To those of you going back to school on Monday, we wish you a great start to term 3.
Love to you all,
Deb & Finn

Hi From Auckland.
ReplyDeleteGG will catch up with all your places later as too much to take in all at one go. The Effiel Tower is an amazing structure. Have you seen any of the armed police. There guns can feel threatening to us who usually don't see armed personal.
Wow what an adventure. Lots of wonderful memories for you two to bring home. Finn you could write a book when you get back! Thinking about you two, keep safe.
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like alot of fun in paris I will go there when I learn all my French words so I am learning them now only 2 more years of studying. Love Megan P.S Finn stay warm.

To celebrate your safe arrival in Paris and time in France. We had croissants with ham, tomato and cambert. Yum. Hope the food is great and the wasps keep away.
ReplyDeleteHi Deb & Finn, the view from the top of the Effiel tower must have been simply magic, good thinking to grab the umbrella Finn! I didn't realize that there was a cafe up there too, but I guess if you walk up all those stairs you would need a drink and a re fuel break!
ReplyDeleteNow for those of us that have no idea (me) is the metro a train? Hope you get a good nights sleep tonight and that you don't have to recover from all the stair climbing, so that you have maximum energy for Euro Disney tomorrow... Have fun!
I just googled the metro, good ole Wikipedia gave me all the answers. The metro itself has quiet a comprehensive history, I had no idea the system was so old (new trains of course!) I read that it carries 4.5 million passengers a day! Also that it has free Wifi available for passengers! Sounds well connected and a good way to get around Paris :-)
DeleteHi Deb & Finn,
ReplyDeleteThe "Text from the Tower" was great to receive, thanks. Super cool. May the fun continue!
Love from us.
Hi Deb and Finn,
ReplyDeleteSooo much has happened in the past two weeks for you - it's been great to have a moment to sit and read about your adventures!! Scott, Emma, Nicole and I also climbed those steps up the Eiffel Tower - it is a pretty cool thing to do!! You are braver than us because we didn't go any higher - that was high enough!!
I am pleased you are having such a lovely time in Paris - it is a fun city and pretty easy to get around.
Enjoy Disneyland - I know you will.... it is so much fun. I hope the weather clears a bit for you - it's not been so nice in England of late! I guess all that heat in Rome needed to be banked for later in your trip!
Take Care, Love Diana
Hi Deb and Finn. It has been lovely to read of your exciting adventures over the last week. Not long now till you will be in England. You have fitted in some fantastic sightseeing jaunts. Guess you will both be feeling a little tired. Good luck for the next part of your journey.
DeleteHi Deb and Finn,
ReplyDeleteIt's Emma here! Your blog is fantastic, it's great to read all about the amazing and interesting things that you're doing. The Sacre-Coeur is my favourite place in Paris, i'm so glad you got to see it even if it was raining! Hopefully you got to see bit of monmatre too? The Eiffel Tower is also heaps of fun, I trust you have taken lots of photos of the gorgeous view. I'm sure you're having a blast at Euro Disney, there are so many fun rides and things to see and do. Don't forget to visit the gift shop, they have some great merchandise in there! All the best for the rest of your travels, i'm looking forward to reading about them!! Lots of Love From Emma
Hey Finn and Deb, ah yes the tower is fantastic, When we were in London I took Tracey to the Sacre-Coer for Lunch (Using the high speed train)...very nice. Hard day in the office for the hawks this weekend, with 2 big losses. One of those days when the hawks didn't turn up to play like they can, anyhow next weekend is s new game and we start again...Back to school for the boys tomorrow and a good catch up with the friends. The vindaloos lost 2-0 but we felt like we won 4-2 with that many shots on goal. Funny old game Football sometimes. Have a great time with micky mouse!
